Job Description

Food & Paper Supply , an established food and paper distributor located in the south suburbs of Chicago (Alsip), is seeking a Warehouse Receiver .    The Warehouse Receiver performs various receiving tasks: unloads packages, verifies, and inspect that materials received are as ordered and routes incoming items to appropriate locations in the warehouse This person should have the ability to work well under pressure, independently and be a team player. Hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

• Receives and unloads incoming materials and compares information on packing slip with purchase order to verify accuracy of shipment; may process return shipments from customers.
• Tags product to be stocked and stored.
• Sorts, counts, packages, labels, insures, unpacks, and/or logs inventory which is shipped or received.
• Inspects shipments for damages or defects; records discrepancies or damages and notifies supervisor and/or purchasing personnel.
• Inventory cycle counts.
• Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
• May maintain department database, prepare routine reports, and file shipping/receiving records.
• May  operate dolly, pallet jack, and/or forklift in loading and unloading supplies and equipment; may operate shrink-wrap machine; may assist in routine maintenance of equipment and shipping area.

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
• Six months of experience in warehouse operations preferred.
• Ability to operate various types of materials handling equipment including hand trucks, pallet jacks, standard forklifts, and order-picker forklifts when needed.
• Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. 
• Ability to perform these operations using weight measurement, volume, and distance.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. 
• Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Physical Requirements

• While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and climb or balance. 
• Will be subject to moderate to loud noise.
• The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk or hear.
• The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 80 pounds.

Employees may, from time to time and on an as-needed basis, be required to perform duties outside of the responsibilities listed here
