Segment Manager, Insert & Gear

 

Location: Dublin, OH, US, 43017

 

Summary

Develop and implement product and channel strategies that drive global market share, revenue, and margin growth for metal forming and cutting tools. Understand, anticipate, and meet the demands of global customer base leveraging Hyperion’s manufacturing capability and material applications expertise. Up to 35% international travel required.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Create and execute the go-to-market strategy for insert and gear metal cutting tool product lines.
  • Identify, support, and drive plans to develop key markets, customers, and geographies.
  • Create compelling value-based sales arguments and sales training materials to drive insert and gear cutting tool product line performance.
  • Manage product life cycle from development of requirements, to cutting tool product development, launch, sustaining and phase out.
  • Develop and implement product plans which coordinate all elements of product profitability, including breadth of insert and gear cutting tool product offerings, pricing strategy, and inventories, with goal of increasing contribution margin.
  • Collaborate and communicate with research and development, operations, marketing and sales to develop new insert and gear cutting tool products, product enhancements and product redesign, pricing, marketing, sales tools and life cycle plans to drive business growth and increase market share.
  • Collaborate with R&D and operations to develop realistic insert and gear metal cutting tool product specifications derived from cemented carbide and polycrystalline materials that will satisfy customer and market demands.
  • Develop strategies for new product introductions.
  • Develop and execute product launch schedules and take ownership of marketing plan. Ensures maximum return on new product development investment by prioritizing product development projects based on potential growth and resource intensity.
  • Forecast sales volume requirements and actively develop a production plan to meet the forecast and manage inventory.
  • Understand and articulate product and customer requirements by analyzing customer applications, market size and projected market growth.
  • Support product placement by describing key features of the applications and points of differentiation.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as revenue vs. plan, contact rate, quote closure rate and gross profit percentage.
  • Monitor competitors and their marketing activities and anticipate trends and changes in performance.
  • Anticipate and respond to trends and changes in performance. Collaborate with marketing and sales to develop and implement integrated content, promotion and creative campaigns to drive growth and maximize customer value and to develop online and offline marketing campaigns to build brand equity and develop sales opportunities.
  • Support efforts for lead generation and qualification and participate with management in developing sales strategy for the entire company while maintaining close and regular contact with sales managers, customers, and distributors.

 

Qualifications: Education and Work Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering or Materials Science and Engineering.
  • Three (3) years of experience as Application Engineer or Business Development Specialist.
  • The three (3) years of experience must have included designing and implementing metal forming and cutting tool solutions and products derived from cemented carbide and polycrystalline materials, preparing internal quotations for metal forming and cutting tools, and providing technical support for the sale of metal forming and cutting tools and the resolution of related customer issues.
  • Up to 35% international travel required.
