Job Description

Job Purpose: 

Judah Christian School is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our students, staff, and guests. The Custodian will perform daily cleaning, routine maintenance, event setup, and seasonal duties to ensure our facilities reflect excellence and care.

Key Responsibilities: 

Daily Cleaning & Sanitation: 

• Clean and sanitize bathrooms and locker rooms.
• Clean Classrooms.
• Clean glass doors, windows, mirrors, and entryways.
• Wipe and disinfect high-touch surfaces.
• Maintain hallways, stairs, lobby, and public areas.
• Sweep and maintain gymnasium floor (daily); run floor machine as scheduled.
• Clean weight room, stage, libraries, concession areas, and common spaces.
• Monitor and address spills or unexpected messes promptly.

Floor Care: 

• Run floor machine in hallways (1–2 times weekly; more frequently in winter).
• Mop classrooms weekly (twice weekly during winter months).
• Sweep and mop gym stage.
• Deep clean bleachers as scheduled.

Trash & Recycling: 

• Empty large trash bins.
• Coordinate recycling collection.

Event Support & Setups: 

• Set up and tear down tables and chairs for events.
• Prepare and maintain cleanliness before and after games and special events.
• Spot clean lunch areas following meal periods.

Seasonal Duties: 

• Winter snow shoveling and salting at main entrances.
• Summer turnover deep cleaning (per provided task list).

Maintenance & Repairs: 

• Perform minor repairs (tighten bolts, replace covers, secure fixtures, etc.)
• Report maintenance needs requiring professional service.
• Maintain gym floor condition and report damage concerns.

Qualifications: 

• A committed follower of Jesus Christ who fully supports, without reservation, the Judah Christian School Statement of Faith.
• Prior custodial or facilities experience required - minimum of 2-3 years of experience.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment and floor machines.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to lift, bend, stand, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift.
• Dependable and self-motivated.

Working Hours: 

This position is a part-time, 12-month position, 31 hours per week with hourly compensation. 

Supervisor: 

This position reports to the Operations / HR Manager
